Enigmata Back Issues ProjectThis page is about the process of collecting and digitizing Enigmata content and placing it on the web. To read the actual material that's been made available in this fashion, see Enigmata Back Issues. Content Collection
The following links list volumes which are not entirely up on the web yet. They list the contents of each issue along with what permissions the authors/artists have granted for reproduction.
If you are the author of any of the listed materials and have not yet made your wishes known, please tell me (Scott Martin) whether or not you will allow your work to be included in the Enigmata online back issues. If you say yes, also please tell me if you still have the work in a digital format or if you're willing to re-type/scan it in. Though I have access to a scanner, I'm not quite willing to scan and proof a few hundred pages all by myself. Though in general nothing will be put on the web without the author's explicit permission, I'm going to consider the following categories of things to be "property of Enigma" unless an individual author objects: all content produced by the editors in their capacity as editors (introductions, requests for submissions, etc), Enigma schedules and presidents' columns, and the printed results of Enigma group projects. For unattributed materials, or those under a pen name, I will request permission from the issue's editor. Design Notes Individual Enigmata issues will only be archived on the web after the issues is at least a year old. We don't want to detract from the value of the original paper! Because of the limitations of web bandwidth, Enigmata is reproduced here primarily as text files with interspersed graphic files, not as scanned full page images. Though there has been some attempt to use simple html to simulate the look and feel of the original layout, web readers should consult printed copies to see the real thing. In regard to the actual text and image content, the material on the web is, as much as possible, an exact reproduction of the printed Enigmata content, down to the typos and pencil slips. The Enigma web staff cannot and will not make editorial changes in the content, though editors and authors may, upon request, add correction notes which will clearly be marked as later additions and not part of the original content. |
