The Myth of Mirage,
the Mystical Eye

Part I
It has been said that our Great Lord prided himself on his Knowledge of All Things, and that He possessed within Himself the mind of all mortals and the hands of all men, and with His mind and His hands He could understand all things, and craft all things, since before the Genesis of all things.
This pride angered many of the Greater Gods, who held great powers that matched that of our Great Lord, yet still, our Great lord always possessed His Magnificent Reason that left His demeanor to be unimpressed before the displays of all power in Heaven, for He alone understood all things, even those powers He did not possess.
It was because of this anger that Greater Gods sought for once to deceive our Great Lord with their power, but only through the union of powers might they hope to create an illusion great enough to surpass His Magnificent Reason. First the Lord of Fire & Earth laid before Our Lord a mighty desert of sweltering heat. Our Lord walked upon the desert, untouched, for His Sacred Understanding shielded Him from the heat. It was then that the Lord of Light brought down His brilliance before Our Great Lord, reflecting a blinding light off the sweeping sands. But Our Lord was not blinded, for He knew Light for what it was. It was then that the Great Lord of Chaos swept the Light from off the desert floor, and in swirling unpredictable patterns, tossed the light away. Our Great Lord opened his eyes once again, Knowing the Light had departed, and trekked onwards through the desert of Earth and Fire.
Believing now that His equals were trying to impress Him, He thought nothing of it when an oasis became visible before Him. "Now the Lord of the Sea seeks to impress me as well, alas he shall fail, for I possess knowledge of his powers, as I possess knowledge of All Things." He claimed, as he trekked onward towards the oasis. Onward He trekked, and with each stride the oasis would disappear, only to reveal another yet further away. After many eons of traveling Our Great Lord collapsed in a Great Exhaustion, begging to the Lord of the Sea to let Him sip His waters at last.
But there came no answer, only the laughter of Chaos, echoing "Great Mind of the Gods, the Sealord stands not within this oasis, but only Light, which I have flung far before you on the sands of Fire and Earth, forever unreachable to you."
This was infuriating to Our Great Lord, for none had ever puzzled His Magnificent Reason before this day, and with one more glance at this unreachable oasis, He plucked out His Sacred Eye, for it had deceived and offended Him, and flung it off towards the shimmering illusion.
"Rise", He Said, for the first time in eternity.
And with His words, His eyeball rose and flew with great speed towards the illusion of water in the distance. The Eye examined the illusion, soon it is said the Eye beheld all its truths, and from this Mystical Bud of Our Great Lord, emerged a mysterious female form garbed in flowing robes.
And The Great Lord spoke, "You have revealed new truth to me, a rare gift onto me, and I shall call you this truth, Mirage, the Mystical Eye, my Lesser Goddess of that which I shall call Magic."
And Mirage spoke, "My Lord, you have formed my spirit and given me power over the essence I have always possessed. I shall wield these things, as you command, and loyally I shall protect you from deception, for all which attempts to deceive, and all which is not understood, I shall form into Magic, and keep it sacred and arcane until you decree a Time for Understanding has arrived."
In Unison, they nodded, and all was understood.
Part II
Mirage had done as She had promised to Her Lord, and as He brought Knowledge and Craft upon the people, she would observe. Some of this Knowledge would overwhelm the people, for they did not yet understand these truths, and feared them. And so Our Lady came to enshroud this Knowledge within the folds of Her Most Divine Robes, and within Her velvety folds these truths became mysteries both holy and vile.
Great minds among the people would come to Her, worshipping Her for they knew She held great power. Often She would choose the most worthy of Her followers to be entrusted with how to control the secrets of the Knowledge She enshrouded for Her Lord, but never did She bring them to understanding. These Most Holy Priests of the Arcane Faith became known as wizards, and their services awed and inspired the people to Adore Her, yet none knew of their ignorance. But the enshrouded truths were safely kept.
In time, many of the other mortals would come to understand Her secrets, a true understanding, slowly as the centuries past. In turn Mirage would bring new secrets to Her Chosen, and drop the traditions of the old. In time, so many of these ancient truths had become the Knowledge of the People, Mirage grew concerned about the transition of knowledge, and so she turned to the Great Lord.
"Father," She spoke, "This Knowledge that the people hold as common for centuries was enshrouded in my robes, now is spread across Earth with no lesser guardian to protect it. I do not feel this is wise."
The Great Lord smiled at His creation, "Indeed, my daughter, Know that I have Reasoned this forever, and now the Time of Understanding has come."
With that, the Great Lord extended His arm and a tall male being appeared, with grey unbiased eyes. "I call forth the Patron of Science, which I had made in preparation for this day. While He has laid dormant for centuries, the Time of Understanding has arrived, and He shall serve as Guardian by your side."
And the Patron and the Mystical Eye looked upon each other with a great love and a great turmoil, for they were one and the same.
And so the Trinity rules over our people: The Lord enlightens, the Eye inspires, and the Patron explains. May this be the Order of Knowledge.
