The Beginning and The End
The beginning and the end, as related by his most exalted runepriest, the high aleph omega, greatest of the runepriests of the eternal twins, to the assembled runepriests at the great conclave of mountfast, era 31-1213, common time.
Yea, verily, the folly of the Gods. First did the Void give raise to the blessed Yultan and Mordak, the Eternal Twins. Mighty Yultan, the First God, Father to all Gods, Earthforge and Creator. Sly Mordak, the Last God, Child to all Gods, Deathforge and Destroyer, thus were brought into being to impose Order upon the Void, and to confront the foul and odious Demons which lurked within the darkness of the Outer Spaces.
Yultan, the Smith, Earthforge, Builder of All Things. Mordak, the Destroyer, Deathforge, Ender of All Things. Born out of the Void’s own desire to obliterate the foul Demonic Corruption lurking in the depths, these Twins were Weapon by which the Void would purify itself. But the goals of Yultan and Mordak were flawed. For the stench of Demon treachery lies within the Void, and all of its creations.
Thus, the Hammer of Worlds, instrument of Yultan’s construction of Heaven and Earth, and the weapon of Mordak’s destruction of the same, necessary as it was to all tasks, was born fouled with Demon taint. For the Hammer contained the seeds of doom for Yultan and Mordak, and yea, all of the other, lesser gods.
For the Hammer was First and Foremost a terrible weapon of Demon Destruction, fit only for Demon hands, and the death knell of the Gods. Thus were Yultan and Mordak, rightful and true Overlords of the Gods, forced to turn aside from their Rulership of Heaven, in order to seize from the demons the fell Hammer, which they cursed and renamed the Hammer of Demons.
Long and terrible was the struggle to secure the Hammer of the Demons. For time without end, did the Eternal Twins contest with the despicable ones, for control of the Hammer. For every demon that Yultan did crush, and Mordak did rend, ten more would rise up to take their place. Many wounds and desecrations did Yultan and Mordak suffer, in their battle for the future of Heaven itself. Finally, the Twins did throw back the accursed ones, and Yultan did seize from them the Hammer of Demons. With the Hammer did Yultan smite the demons, driving them off in terror of his righteous wrath.
And then did Yultan labor, in the space he did clear from demon taint, creating the Earth so that the other Gods might in turn also learn to build, and to destroy. The glittering globe was a plaything for the lesser Gods, as they strove to learn and perfect their innate abilities. And in turn shall Mordak strive, in the Great Rending, towards the destruction of the Earth and all upon it, to remove that which is not needed, once the Gods have learned what they must.
Much did Yultan and Mordak sacrifice for the good of the other Gods. Hard upon them was the terrible bane of the Hammer, which needed relentless guarding day and night, from before the Sun’s birth until the final Fall of Night. Many were the hurts and labors the Twins did take upon themselves, in the safekeeping of the Hammer. More than any other gods did They labor for the good of all. For only through endless pain and torment, loss and sacrifice, could the High Twins keep the Hammer from its True Demonic Masters, and safeguard the Heavens for the Gods alone. And in the end, when Demons and Gods war, Shall Yultan and Mordak have their rightful place at the Head of their Fellow? Nay, for they shall instead seek to keep from the Dark Ones that which would ensure their victory, the key to Demon Hell without end, the Baneful and Fell Hammer of Demons.
