 Benevolence
Benevolence System
Alpha Centauri A, G2 (-1.7,-1.4,-3.9)
two airless worlds, Benevolence (terrestrial), airless world, asteroid belt, three gas giants |
The site of Earth's first extra-solar settlements, Benevolence was colonized directly by the nations of Earth early in its history. In 2650, Benevolence was a harsh but viable terrestrial world, with a population of over 300 million split between 13 different nations. Unfortunately, the prejudices and hatreds of Earth were carried here along with the people, and in 2654 a massive world war broke out, rapidly escalating to the use of nuclear and chemical weapons. Two hundred years later, the war is still going on, carried out by small populations huddled in bunkers, many of them in hidden bases in the moons and asteroids. Benevolence itself is nearly uninhabitable due to repeated nuclear bombardment. Interstellar communications are sporadic, and there are believed to currently be five warring nations, though there could easily be others unknown. All parties are bent on the total destruction of the others, and any alliances between the nations are matters of convenience to be broken at any time. The five current sides are: the People's Republic of Benevolence, the Eighth Reich, the Centauran Soviet Socialist Republic, the United States of Benevolence, and the Martin Empire. |
